Yule

Stonehenge, Winter Solstice
Stonehenge, Winter Solstice

Yule marks the Winter Solstice , the shortest day of the year(*1) , which indicates that the Sun is returning to its proper place , and gives the promise that spring will return. The solstices vary from year to year , I use The Farmers Almanac to find proper dates.

Yule Is Celebrated Much in the same fashion as other Winter Holidays (*2), with familial Gatherings , Feasts , and Observation of Lit Candles in recognition of the Sun's return.

Items for a Yule Altar :

  • Winter Herbs
  • Evergreen Boughs
  • Pine cones , Acorns , Natures Gifts
  • Gifts to be Given
  • Crystals
  • Seeds
  • Candles (*3)

*1 - Northern Hemisphere Only
*2 - North American Winter Holidays , Christmas and Thanksgiving
*3 - Be Cautious of Candle Usage - Use Common Sense , I prefer to Store My Candle on the Altar but only light it if everything else has been removed that might be flammable.
